Psychodynamic therapy helps individuals make connections between present difficulties and the past
Together we will look at your current problems, such as anxiety or depression, relationship difficulties or addictions, work place stress or loneliness and isolation etc and try to uncover their roots, which are often linked back to childhood.
Counselling is also about helping you to find your values and choices, whilst providing you with a non judgemental, supportive and a safe place for expression of feelings, exploration of thoughts and time to reflect and change choices.

About me and my practice
I have a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and work with a person-centred approach. I am also committed to and regularly attend continuous development courses. I am non-judgemental, reflective and respectful of individual differences and have had experience of working with a wide range of issues and ages.
I now only work in private practice from my home, which is a discreet village location, with plenty of parking and is wheelchair accessible.
As a registered member of BACP, I am bound by its Code of Ethics and Practice, including confidentiality. For more information about BACP visit their website at www.bacp.co.uk
Experience
I have a wide range of experience including counselling in a further education college, for a drugs and alcohol charity as well as a counselling charity, working with short-term and long-term clients.
Also extensive experience working for an organisation seeing GP referrals on the government initiative IAPT (Increased Access to Psychological Therapies).
I now work exclusively in private practice, which allows me to work without organisational interference.
Qualifications
I have a BACP accredited professional qualification in Psychodynamic Counselling.
I have attended extensive further training courses including working with couples, psychosexual, beyond the dyad, sexual healing, abuse, depression and mourning, problems before and after bereavement, compulsive eating, relationships ending, working with trauma, body language and symbolism, love & hate, working with anger, dissociation, mindfulness, female sexuality, post traumatic stress, shame and OCD.
My experiences personally, in and out of the home, before becoming a counsellor add to my empathy and understanding.
Additional Information
I'm more than happy to chat on the phone and there is no obligation to take it further with me.
